· Program Hours: Museum programs are offered September through June, Monday through Friday, 10:30 AM—1 PM; from 12 noon - 1 PM, students eat lunch and shop for souvenirs. Teachers will receive program handouts and materials when they arrive at the museum.
· Admission: During the school year, the admission fee is $6.50 per person, including adults. Teachers and teacher’s aides are admitted for free. A deposit of 50% of the total price (payable by school check, money order or Dept of Ed. school voucher) is required to confirm reservations for all classes. The deposit will be credited toward the total admission fees on the class visitation day. If paying by check, please include the school name, the school address and date of visit in the check's memo section.
· Payment: The balance is due when your class arrives at the museum and must be paid by cash or money order.· Reservations: Visits can be arranged by calling 212-694-2240 or faxing 212-694-2241. For more information,call Irma LaGuerre between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday—Friday.
· Confirmation: After the deposit is received, confirmation will be made by letter or email.
· Cancellation Policy: Due to the limited capacity of the museum, we are forced to adhere to a strict cancellation policy. A cancellation made less than 2 weeks before your trip will forfeit your entire deposit. A cancellation made 2 to 3 weeks before your trip will forfeit 1/2 of your deposit. · Luncheon: Students are invited to bring lunch and “picnic” around the teepee.
· Gift Shop/Trading Post: Please mention to parents that children may need some spending money. Books, craft kits, handmade crafts and other items will be low cost, but high quality and extend the day’s activities. Jewelry, books and other handmade arts that appeal to adults are also available.
· What We Expect from Classes: Teachers must be part of the workshops and prepare students for their visit. Let us know ahead of time if you need translators or if students have any special needs. We are not wheelchair accessible at this time. · What You Can Expect from the Nitchen Children’s Museum of Native America: your class will receive a first rate puppet show performed by Native puppeteers; fun activities; correct information about Native peoples that dispel stereotypes; quality programming and materials; and our undivided attention!
